The short answer
- If your studio is standardised on 5,600 K and you want maximum output: Forza 720.
- If you need to match other light sources, warm tones or changing locations: Forza 720B.

The output difference
Under the same conditions (3 m, 5,600 K, with reflector) the Forza 720 delivers roughly 29% more illuminance than the 720B. The 720B’s output also varies with colour temperature: in the same measurement it gives 6,604 lux at 3,200 K and 5,854 lux at 2,700 K.
In a studio locked to daylight, that difference means fewer fixtures or a larger softbox for the same illuminance. Our lux and watts guide explains how to read the measuring conditions in lux tables.
Colour temperature flexibility and output modes
Because the 720B adjusts from 2,700 to 6,500 K, it can be matched to tungsten practicals, warm interiors or window light. It has two output modes: Maximum Output gives the highest brightness possible at the selected colour temperature, while Constant Output keeps brightness the same when you change colour temperature, so camera settings need less re-adjustment.
To get a warm tone from the Forza 720 you need an orange (CTO) gel, and a gel cuts part of the light.
Running on batteries
Both models run on AC and DC (48 V), with two V-mount battery plates on the sides of the control unit. According to the manufacturer, on 2 × 14.8 V batteries both models reach up to 40% output; on 2 × 26 V batteries the Forza 720 reaches up to 70% and the Forza 720B up to 65%.
Noise, setup and accessories
According to the manufacturer, the cooling system runs at about 20 dBA at 35 °C ambient temperature. The fan can be switched off completely, which limits maximum output to 15%.
Thanks to the Bowens mount it works with softboxes, the FL-20G Fresnel lens and PJ-BM projection attachments. The box includes the control unit, a 5 m head cable, a 4.5 m power cable, reflector, COB protective cap, quick-release clamp and carrying bag.
Which studio suits which light?
Locking every light to one colour temperature is common in news and broadcast studios; in our Meltem TV, 0 TV and EkoTurk projects the systems were set to 5,600 K. In a studio like that, the Forza 720 is an efficient choice for a powerful back or background light.
For film sets, mixed-light locations and shows that need warm tones, the 720B’s flexibility is worth more. In the TRT Haber studio lighting design we also combined the Nanlite Forza series with TrueLight panels. See our TV and news studio installation page for studio projects.
Frequently asked questions
Do the Forza 720 and 720B use the same accessories?
Yes. Both have a standard Bowens mount and an umbrella hole, so the same softboxes, Fresnel lens and projection attachments fit.
What does the Forza 720B’s Constant Output mode do?
It keeps brightness the same when you change colour temperature, so you do not have to re-adjust camera settings after every colour temperature change.
Does the Forza 720 run on batteries?
Yes. It runs from the two V-mount plates on the control unit; according to the manufacturer it reaches up to 70% output on 2 × 26 V batteries and up to 40% on 2 × 14.8 V batteries.
Can it be controlled over DMX?
Yes. Both models have DMX/RDM, 2.4G and Bluetooth, and the USB port can power a wireless DMX receiver.
