The short answer
- Evoke 600C: 600 W, with lamp head, control unit and power supply in one body, 8.61 kg including the yoke. IP66, a 1,000–20,000 K range and average CRI and TLCI of 98. For exteriors, location work and small crews.
- Evoke 900C: 940 W with a separate power supply; about 1.7 times more white light at 3 m with a 45° reflector. DMX/RDM and Art-Net/sACN ports on the fixture and a dedicated DMX mode for virtual production. For large sets and studios run over DMX.

Output: white and colour
Under the same conditions (3 m, 5,600 K, 45° reflector) the 900C gives 12,940 lux and the 600C 7,740 lux, a difference of about 1.7 times. The narrow-reflector measurements tell a similar story: 20,820 lux for the 600C with a 25° reflector and 40,300 lux for the 900C with a 26° reflector (3 m, 5,600 K).
In colour, the gap depends on the colour. In the bare-light measurements below, the 900C is clearly ahead in white and red, the gap narrows in green, and in blue the 600C measures slightly higher. If you are planning coloured backdrops or effects, check the row for that colour; our lux and watts guide explains how to read these measurements.
| Colour | Evoke 600C | Evoke 900C |
|---|---|---|
| White, 5,600 K | 2,754 lux | 4,341 lux |
| Red | 421 lux | 800 lux |
| Green | 1,567 lux | 1,835 lux |
| Blue | 236 lux | 210 lux |
Light engine and colour quality
The 900C uses a 6-colour RGBLAC engine that adds lime, amber and cyan to red, green and blue. The Nebula C8 engine in the 600C has eight colours: deep red, red, amber, lime, green, cyan, blue and indigo. According to the manufacturer, the added deep red extends coverage across the red spectrum for more natural skin tones.
The colour temperature range is 1,000–20,000 K on the 600C and 1,800–20,000 K on the 900C; both have ±200 green/magenta adjustment. The manufacturer’s average values are CRI 98 / TLCI 98 for the 600C and CRI 96 / TLCI 96 for the 900C. In gel mode the 600C offers 230 LEE and 230 Rosco gels; on the 900C, 151 gels can be selected through the NANLINK app.
Body, weight and exteriors
On the 600C the lamp head, control unit and power supply share one body; the fixture runs on a single cable from AC 100–240 V mains or a DC 48 V source. The magnesium-alloy head weighs 7.26 kg, or 8.61 kg with the yoke. The manufacturer also offers V-mount battery power through the optional BT-BPS-EVM power station.
The 900C’s 7.7 kg head adds a 1.84 kg yoke and a separate 4.5 kg power supply, connected to the head by a 7.5 m DC cable. That is one more piece and one more cable to carry and rig.
The difference in protection is clear: the 600C’s whole housing is rated IP66, while the 900C’s head and power supply are rated IP55. For long periods in rain, dust or sand, the 600C is the better fit. On both models, cover unused ports with their waterproof caps when shooting in the rain; Nanlux stresses this on its Evoke product pages.
Control and virtual production
The 900C has 5-pin XLR DMX in/out and LAN in/out ports on the fixture, so DMX/RDM and Art-Net/sACN need no adapter. It connects to the NANLINK app through built-in 2.4G/Bluetooth modules and to CRMX through a built-in LumenRadio TimoTwo module. The manufacturer says that with Art-Net/sACN and an RGB DMX mode without a dimmer channel, the 900C can be integrated into Unreal Engine’s lighting system, which is a real advantage on virtual production sets with LED walls.
The 600C comes with built-in LumenRadio CRMX, NFC and Bluetooth (NANLINK App 2.0), and the IP66 WC-EXT wired controller with an 8 m cable is in the box. Art-Net/sACN over Ethernet needs the optional AS-EXT-LAN extension adapter. The manufacturer’s technical data also marks DMX/RDM as “via the extension adapter”; if you will run it from a DMX console, confirm the connection details with us before ordering. See our DMX lighting control guide for more.
Accessory mount and light shaping
The 600C uses the new BE mount. It is compatible with Bowens accessories, and NL mount accessories fit with the AS-NLA-BE adapter. If you already own Bowens-mount softboxes, the FL-20G Fresnel lens or PJ-BM projection attachments, they work on the 600C directly. BE mount accessories include 25° and 45° reflectors, the BE55 parallel beam reflector and the FL-22E motorised Fresnel with a 15°–50° zoom; the standard kit includes the 25° reflector.
The 900C uses the Evoke family’s NL mount; the manufacturer publishes measurements with 26°, 45° and 60° reflectors and a Fresnel lens, and the kits include the 45° reflector. According to the manufacturer, the Evoke series also works with other professional modifiers such as DoPchoice. If you have NL mount accessories, the 900C takes them directly and the 600C through the adapter.
Which one for which job?
| Use | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Exteriors in rain or dust | Evoke 600C | Whole housing IP66; single cable |
| Location shoots with a small crew | Evoke 600C | All-in-one, 8.61 kg with yoke; V-mount power station option |
| Skin tones and colour accuracy first | Evoke 600C | Average CRI 98 / TLCI 98; 8-colour light engine |
| Large set, colour light from far away | Evoke 900C | More white and red output |
| Virtual production and LED-wall sets | Evoke 900C | Art-Net/sACN on the fixture; RGB DMX mode without a dimmer channel |
| TV studio run from a DMX console | Evoke 900C | DMX/RDM and LAN ports on the fixture |
| You already own Bowens-mount accessories | Evoke 600C | BE mount, Bowens compatible |
When is the 600C enough?
The manufacturer positions the 600C as a key light in smaller setups and a fill light in larger scenes. If the light will work from a few metres through a softbox or diffusion, and colour quality, weather resistance and quick setup matter more to you than maximum output, the 600C is enough for most jobs. If you need saturated colour back or background light from far away, network control across many universes or virtual production integration, moving up to the 900C makes sense.
If you only need white light, look at the bi-colour Evoke models too: Evoke 1200B vs 2400B vs 5000B. We used Nanlux and Nanlite lights together in Diyanet TV’s main studio in Ankara; for studio projects see our TV and news studio and green screen studio pages.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Evoke 600C RGBLAC?
No. The 600C uses Nanlux’s 8-colour Nebula C8 light engine: deep red, red, amber, lime, green, cyan, blue and indigo. The 6-colour RGBLAC engine is in the 900C.
Which one is brighter?
The 900C. According to the manufacturer, at 3 m, 5,600 K with a 45° reflector the 900C gives 12,940 lux and the 600C 7,740 lux. In blue, though, the 600C is slightly ahead in the bare-light measurement: 236 against 210 lux.
Does the 600C have a separate power supply?
No. On the 600C the lamp head, control unit and power supply share one body, and it runs on a single cable from AC 100–240 V or DC 48 V. The 900C comes with a separate 4.5 kg power supply.
Do they run on batteries?
The 600C does: it can run from V-mount batteries through the optional BT-BPS-EVM power station. The 900C’s official page lists no battery accessory; its technical data includes a DC 48 V input.
Do the two models take the same accessories?
Not directly. The 600C uses the BE mount and is compatible with Bowens-mount accessories; NL mount accessories fit with the AS-NLA-BE adapter. The 900C uses the NL mount.
